American citizens everywhere agree that something must be done to reduce our debt. Using award-winning public relations stunts, television commercials, print ads, and billboards, Defeat the Debt has succeeded in raising awareness on the importance of reining in our soaring debt.
Guerrilla Marketing: Defeat the Debt implemented a unique guerrilla marketing campaign in order to raise awareness on America’s debt. The nonprofit sent 17 “Uncle Sam” characters to panhandle on the streets of Washington, D.C., New York City, and Chicago. The campaign generated media attention and raised public awareness on fiscal issues.
Media Attention: Defeat the Debt ran commercials on CNBC, Fox News and CNN in order to promote the campaign. They also ran full page ads in USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times.
