Positions we are currently hiring for:

Staff Assistant

Berman and Company is a dynamic, energetic, and creative company looking for someone to help keep us organized and provide high-level administrative support to our team. This role is the perfect opportunity to get early exposure to the PR world, and has potential for upward mobility in the company.

This is not a remote position. This staff assistant will sit at the front desk, and be the first point of contact for any visitors. This person will keep our office moving and assist on projects in a variety of public policy spaces.

One of the big job functions of the staff assistant will be database management. The person for this role needs to be organized with great attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple tasks happening at the same time. Coworkers will rely on this person to assist with various projects, which may include assignments like research, writing, mailings, travel arrangements, data entry, record keeping, or meeting planning.

What You’ll Do:

  • Front desk administration and receptionist duties, including duties such as greeting guests, receiving deliveries, answering multiple phone lines, mailing and shipping;
  • Database management, including updating and maintaining accurate information of our clients;
  • Purchasing office, kitchen and shipping supplies, keeping an inventory of what supplies we have available, ensuring the workroom and kitchen are properly stocked and tidy, tracking and monitoring supply expenses;
  • Liaising with the building’s concierge desk, scheduling maintenance appointments with outside contractors;
  • Assisting with meeting planning and set up;
  • Assist Berman’s Executive Assistant with vetting resumes during the hiring process and aiding with new employee transitions;
  • Assist the staff on projects, including everything from research, writing, record keeping, and travel arrangements.

Communications Associate

Berman and Company is a dynamic, energetic, and creative company looking for someone to assist the communications department with writing, research, and media relations.

At Berman and Company, our goal is to change the debate. The ideal candidate needs to be a strong writer who can juggle multiple projects. The candidate must have the ability to spot a hook that can be used to bring attention to complicated or niche issues and then turn that hook into compelling, easy-to-digest arguments.

Our communications associate will focus on writing and media relations, but must also be comfortable conducting research, speaking with stakeholders, and brainstorming creative ideas that may be outside the realm of writing. The team will also rely on this person to assist with assignments like copy editing, mailings, or data entry.

What You’ll Do:

  • Draft op-eds, blogs, video scripts, white papers, and press releases;
  • Assist with managing and recruiting members of policy coalitions;
  • Manage media relations for multiple projects, including placing op-eds, speaking with reporters, and maintaining press lists;
  • Build, cultivate, and maintain relationships with reporters;
  • Assist staff with copy editing or brainstorming;
  • Conduct research ranging from daily media monitoring to more in-depth policy research;
  • Assist with answering multiple client phone lines.

What We Would Like to See:

  • Previous professional writing experience for a general audience;

Graphic Designer

Berman and Company is a dynamic, energetic, and creative company looking for someone to join our award-winning creative team.

At Berman and Company, our goal is to change the debate. The ideal candidate needs to be adept at visually translating strategies into stories across a wide spectrum of issue advocacy campaigns. They will focus on the visual design of the project and work closely with leadership, copywriters, researchers, and other creative team members to deliver unique, cross-platform solutions (print and digital).

What You’ll Do:

  • Create innovative design solutions, including graphics for issue advocacy campaigns with a key focus on concept development, branding and collateral materials for both print and digital;
  • Create advertising (billboards, newspaper, magazine, etc.) that creatively portray client messages;
  • Partner with project team members and clients to ensure that projects exceed the client’s expectations on quality and timing;
  • Create innovative and thoughtful design solutions to translate complex ideas in eye-catching and easy to understand ways;
  • Follow current trends for color, technology, and other related design influences while using knowledge and research to create innovative solutions;
  • Create digital ads and graphics for social media and assist web development team with designs and user experience;
  • Identify and manage vendors such as photographers, illustrators, and commercial printers as needed;
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a highly organized and detailed manner.

Skills Needed:

  • Demonstrated interest in promoting the free-market, limited government, and consumer choice;
  • Strong Adobe Creative Suite skills including Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop as well as PowerPoint;
  • Experience working with print vendors;
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience (internships can count);
  • Experience in front-end web design/development is a plus.

Digital Marketing Manager

Berman and Company is a dynamic, energetic, and creative company looking for someone to join our award-winning creative team.

At Berman and Company, our goal is to change the debate. The Digital Marketing Manager will be responsible for assisting in planning, executing, and reporting social media, email, and digital marketing campaigns for a variety of political, non-profit, and corporate clients.

The DMM will also be expected to assist in the strategy, drafting, and execution of campaigns for clients. This requires an understanding and experience in social media management as well as digital advertising platforms — including Sprout Social, Facebook Business/Ads Manager, Google Ads, and others as needed.

As part of their campaign strategy duties, the Digital Marketing Manager will have the opportunity to interface with clients, understand their needs and goals, help set content tone, strategy, as well as work with current and prospective partners to help meet their online marketing needs.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in content development for clients and campaigns, ranging from writing day-to-day social media content;
  • Write ad copy for Google search ads;
  • Write A/B testing copy in Facebook posts and campaigns, and email copy;
  • Analyze and report on campaign performance data;

Skills Needed:

  • Strong writing skills

  • Advanced experience with Google Analytics, Microsoft Excel, and other reporting interfaces is a plus;

Senior Researcher

Berman and Company is a dynamic, energetic, and creative company looking for someone to come on board to extensively research a wide range of topics for various projects. Topics could range from information on activist groups and nonprofits, research on government policies related to labor issues, agriculture, and food.

At Berman and Company, our goal is to change the debate. The ideal candidate needs to be a strong researcher who can juggle multiple projects. The candidate must have the ability to come up with various angles of approaching the task of analyzing and digging for information, with a relentless determination to uncover all that is possible to discover.

The candidate must also be comfortable speaking with stakeholders, brainstorming creative ideas that may be outside the realm of research, and obtain strong writing and communication skills.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage ongoing research projects;
  • Conduct in-depth policy research;
  • Draft op-eds, blogs, video scripts, white papers, and press releases;
  • Assist staff with copy editing or brainstorming.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to conduct primary research projects from beginning to end, including mapping out research roadmaps, creating summaries of findings, and transforming research into actionable products;
  • Experience using proprietary research databases like Nexis, Lexis, CLEAR, etc.;
  • Experience carrying out analyses of nonprofit entities, including examining 990 filings and using FoundationSearch;
  • Experience submitting records requests, including knowing what information to request, how to acquire it, and how to analyze the records once acquired.
